Principal and founding Jessica Howard has been a teacher for more than three decades. After graduating from BenningtonCollege, she went on to graduate studies at Bank Street College. She taught at the Prospect School from 1965-1991, where she was Coordinator of Curriculum, and was responsible for staff development and supervision of classroom practice. She is regularly asked to speak at seminars and conferences for adults and other teaching professionals, and has served as consultant to several university projects. Jessica is an enthusiastic gardener and is keenly interested in the teaching of math, science and literature.
Ethan Richman is now in his second year as middle school teacher. Ethan has taught Language Arts and Social Studies at the Robert C. Parker School in Wynantskill, NY, and for Putney Student Travel Excel at Williams and Amherst Colleges. He is also a regular adjunct instructor for the Community College of Vermont, Bennington, generally teaching in his favorite subject area, American and World History. He has a B.A. from Lyndon State College and is currently finishing his Masters of Education through University of Vermont. A native of Vermont, he enjoys being active in the outdoors and is not against the notion of fun and humor in the classroom.
Our school is fortunate to have parent volunteers offering classroom support and special expertise in math, music, visual arts, and science. Each term we have college students in our midst as well -- filling the roles of classroom assistants, tutors, and student interns.
